This is a great question. The simple answer is "yes" but there's always a more complicated answer as well. :)

As a 501(c)(3), you are likely eligible to request donated and discounted products from a number of different vendor partners. However, each vendor sets their own eligibility standards for what types of orgs can receive their donations. Some might only donate to youth organizations, while others may donate to nearly all types 501(c)(3)s. You can see a full list of donor partners and their eligibility restrictions here: http://www.techsoup.org/stock/restrictions.asp

Depending upon what products you're looking for, you might be able to get them through TechSoup's donation programs. If you're not already registered, I would check out our Getting Started page to help explain how things work.

I blogged on www.techsoupforlibraries.org last week about a recent, subtle change to the Adobe donation program -- they now include (c)(3) Friends of Libraries orgs in their regular donation program, which is really exciting! If you're not familiar with TechSoup for Libraries, definitely check out the resources there to learn more about how libraries are using TechSoup and sharing their expertise with one another in cool new ways.

Best of luck!

All the info I have seen at Techsoup relates to actual libraries.

Can the Friends organizations also participate?

We are in a rural area with one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country and really need to enhance our local branch library capabilities.

Thanks for your help.
