Good afternoon,

The non-profit school that I volunteer at recieved computers from the military, however these have no operating system. The OS available are upgrades. Are there any that can be fully installed. We are currently using the XP on other computers that we want to take out of commission, but can not install into the donated computers because our license does not cover that many.

Bob Miller here. I am the technology officer for Poverty Bay Power Squadron. We specialize in providing community service education. We have upgraded our computers over the last several years and they all came with Vista Home Premium as the original equipment manufacturer installed OS. When I read through system upgrade restrictions for Windows 7 it seems to say that we cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7. Is this correct? If so, for what possible reason? Thanks.

Sage Peachtree for NonProfits

I am the Controller for a mid-sized Theatre NFP.

We desperately need to upgrade our accounting system, and I would like to switch to Peachtree Premium Accounting for NonProfits.

Unfortunately, our annual budget is over the TechSoup threshold.

Can anyone suggest how we may attain this software inexpensively? In this current economy, I cannot spend the full price for the # of licenses we would need, but would be able to budget accordingly in future fiscal years.

We are hoping for a one-year reprieve just to help us get the ball rolling.

Will an Adobe CS4 ESD license activate a CS4 DVD installation?

Hello,

We ordered the boxed version of CS4 last Adobe fiscal year, and we're hoping to order another license. Since we already have the installation DVDs, we don't need another set, so I think we'll order the ESD (downloadable) version. What I'm wondering is whether we can use our existing DVDs to install CS4, then use the ESD license to activate it, to save ourselves the 6GB download.

It seems like it should work, but I thought it was worth asking.

I interested in knowing what Microsoft is offering. The Techsoup website organization makes it difficult to figure out what the offerings are. One has to go to each category that often has the same offerings as another category. I end up making a Excel spreadsheet for all the offerings. I would prefer a selection to see all the offerings at once. I find that when it comes to Microsoft, I am limited to 6 choices in two years and therefore I look at all the offerings to decided which I obtain through Techsoup and which I have to get from another source.

Backup Exec 12.5 product

We are in need of BackupExec 12.5 for our Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003. The product offered on the web site has some conflicting information regarding compatibility.

On the description page it says it will work with SBS 2003.

On the system requirements page it does not mention SBS 2003.

Can someone please clarify if this product will or will not work with SBS 2003?

I don't have the log-in information from when she was here and whenever I click on "Authorized Agent Request" I get a page that cannot be displayed. Is there any way for me to get the agency log-in information??

Ordered Win7 Enterprise; See Only Win7 Pro on eOpen

Hi,

We recently purchased licenses for Windows 7 Enterprise upgrade through TechSoup. However, after visiting the Microsoft eOpen licensing site and adding the licensing agreement, I see only Windows 7 Professional available for download.

Does anyone know if I need to do something else, perhaps regarding activating additional Software Assurance benefits, in order to have the Windows 7 Enterprise edition available for download? Or, will the license keys that are entered activate the software as the Enterprise edition?

I also ordered a media kit, so when that arrives, perhaps it will have the Enterprise edition on it. There are some features in Enterprise (BitLocker, AppLocker, DirectAccess) that are important to us.

Thank you for all you do for non-profits in helping us to get discounted software! I just wonder why your website is so slow, taking almost a full minute to load even a page with very little content. The code is massive. It took forever to navigate through all the pages I needed to view, and check out was very slow as well. Can't you simplify the code and speed up the pages?

XP Home Upgrade to XP Pro effects, licensing

I have a confluence of problems and was wondering if there was some advice. We are going to get a new server at our office, and want to get Small Business Server 2008 with it. However, one of our computers is running XP Home and our contractor says it must be upgraded to XP Pro. Here are my questions:

Do all our computers have to be on XP Pro for it to properly work with SBS2008?
What effects will upgrading from XP Home to XP Pro have on the data on the computer? Will it have to be completely wiped to install?
The computer in question had XP Home installed when we bought it fresh; this post from 2004 seems to indicate there will be problems with licensing if we upgrade using Techsoup's XP Pro Upgrade. Is that still the case? Also the post wasn't very clear as to what the licensing problems will be.
Also, we got the eOpen expiration notice last month. Previous forums indicated this isn't a big problem, but I wondered if SBS running on a new Open License agreement would have problems with any programs running on an older one.

I bet I will have more questions, but if anyone has answers, please post them.

Key Code?

I received word last week that our organization was approved for Microsoft Office 2007 for our computers. Yea! I went to download the software on to the various computers (hours), and then I went to open the software on one of the computers. I needed the Key Code. I looked everywhere in the Microsoft website (eOpen) and documentation...nothing. Usually, the long key code comes on the actual software which I remember checking off that I wanted when I ordered it. Any idea how long it will take to get the software from Microsoft? Any idea where key codes could be found electronically? I now have a whole office with only 25 uses of Outlook/Word. I guess I'll have to uninstall 2007 and reinstall Office 2003 if I don't get the codes. You'd think that Microsoft would write that little detail in the Welcome e-mail.

Dual Boot Win 7 with Vista

I just ordered the Win 7 Pro Upgrade. I would like to install using a dual boot with my exisitng Vista Business edition. Will Techsoup's upgrade version allow me to do a clean install on a new partition? I can't seem to find the answer elsewhere. Thanks!

unable to change password

For some reason when I go to edit my password, I cannot get the cursor into the 'current password' field and therefore cannot enter it to then make the changes. It is like I am locked out though I am properly logged in and am able to see all of my current account info.

Any thoughts on why this is occurring?

I just noticed on the Microsoft site that "Students, faculty, IT support staff of academic institutions, and Microsoft IT Academies are eligible to receive academic pricing on select Microsoft Certification exams."

Does TechSoup have a nonprofit discount for MS Certification Exams?
