splash:

Also do I need antivirus software for each mailbox in the exchange server? (we currently use nod32).

For an operation of your size, I would say that NOD32 is plenty - just make sure you buy as many licenses as you need for the new location.

splash:

We are looking at window server and I'm not sure if we need an exchange server

You may not need either.

Take a look at Office Live Workspace - it's 5GB of free storage for you guys to share

Alternatively, take a look at Google Apps for NPO - this has the added benefit of also managing your email, sharing your calendars, etc - but this free version doesn't have the full sync opportunities that Outlook does

Do either of these solutions take care of your file sharing and email needs? Are you just sharing MS Office documents, or are you sharing files between accounting software(s) as well?

Server - options, requirements! help please

Hi,

I am from a non profit child care centre. We are opening a second location and would like to share files between the two sites and have email addresses for staff and shared calendars.

Currently we share files in our one locations by saving over a mapped network drive. We use the outlook calendar and google calendar sync to sync the calendar between 3 computers.

We are looking at window server and I'm not sure if we need an exchange server

Also do I need antivirus software for each mailbox in the exchange server? (we currently use nod32). Our PC supplier has shifted through a few server guys and we don't have great support or advice from them. I know a little, but this is all pretty new to me.

Thanks

Robin
