This setup could have also been resolved with SBS 2008 Premium. You get Small Business Server 2008 (server 1, this includes Exchange) and a full license of Server 2008 Standard (for whatever else you needed) and can be licensed for up to 75 users total.

Essential Business Server and CALs also work, but they provide a broader spectrum of services than just Small Business Server does and might be overkill for a small business, depending on their support needs. If you have a 100% Microsoft shop, its a great solution. I personally prefer a blended approach.

Server 2008 limits

Never mind. Essential Business Server and CALs cover this perfectly. Woot.

If I have two physical servers, one for file/print/accounting and the other for Exchange (possibly being upgraded to run Exchange and Sharepoint each in their own virtual instance), can I order one license of Server 2008 Standard and one of Server 2008 Enterprise, and thereby stay within the 1-license-per-server-title restriction?

Then I can buy 50 user CALs and be covered for up to 25 users on each server, right? And still have titles left over for Exchange Server and it's CALs.

But then I'd need to choose between Office and Vista upgrade licenses, or Sharepoint with CALs. Probably get the Office & Vista and get the Sharepoint and CALs when needed through Charity licensing.
