Chrome is nice and fast, but it suffers from "so what?" syndrome; there's really nothing it brings to the table that other browsers don't already bring as well (though firefox did ape Chrome's incognito window, if I recall correctly). I wouldn't discourage anyone from using it, but I don't see any obvious advantages it has over the competition.

As for changing the user-agent string, this blog here has some info on how to do it- looks like you have to hex edit the chrome.dll file. Not for the faint of heart, I suppose, but I don't think it will be too long until Chrome supports some sort of user add-on to do this automatically! (Maybe it does already, haven't used it in a couple of versions).

Re: What are your thoughts of Google Chrome

Chrome is also my primary browser at home. I like the streamlined UI. It really feels well designed and well thought out.

The biggest problem that I've found is that some sites don't recognize Chrome as a compatible browser. For example, when a page has a media clip and it checks to make sure your browser is up-to-date enough to handle everything... the page usually only accepts IE/Firefox (even though I doubt Chrome would have a problem).

A specific example would be that you can't watch TV shows on ABC.com using Chrome.

Other than that, I haven't had any trouble.

What are your thoughts of Google Chrome

Has anyone downloaded Google Chrome and replaced their browsers with it? I was curious what people thought about it before I download it myself. I've seen someone else use it and it appears really fast, but don't really know much whether it's functional, reliable, etc.
