It will accept 30 simultaneous connections and does include sound. You can also make it part of a website. I do not broadcast the sound as you would only hear the wind blowing. I have it as a thumbnail on the home page but then you can log in and pan and tilt the cam. This is a $200 webcam and has a pretty good picture. Feel free to check it out at www.lstmemorial.org. So far I have not had to increase the bandwidth on our network connection. There is a wireless connection from the office network to the webcam.

I noticed you asked another question about live video streaming recently. What are you looking to do with live streaming? What options have you tried?

Best,

Looking for a live video streaming solution that would allow being able to broadcast from web camera and microphone into multiple classrooms over the Internet. Not looking for a broadcast to the whole world solution such as Justin.tv so that the channel could be used internal communication.

There are a number of video conferencing solutions such as Adobe Connect but they require a subscription per month whether or not the service is used.

Readytalk does not have the video streaming capability.

Check out Livestream. With them they have the capability to do live streaming video from multiple portable cameras. I just saw news about it. And you can do it in HD!

Re: Live video Streaming Solution

I asked this question via the TechSoup twitter account and got these responses:

To get RL to SL that is a little harder and ustream does not allow for that since SL uses quicktime streams

Re: Live video Streaming Solution

I know someone that used ustream.tv to broadcast several programs at a recent computer conference in Florida. Quality of the images was not great, but they could be used, and because of that I am active again in Second Life and Tech Soup's Non Profit Commons.

How can we do what was requested, if the source of the video is on Second Life and the viewers are in RL.

Conversely how do we do it if the source is in RL, but the viewers are in SL

Re: Live video Streaming Solution

I have use ustream.tv to broadcast to the web, and i just now looked on my account and it allows to have passwords for your shows so that only those you allow can watch.
