We just had DSL installed and it's requently down and I often have problems getting my email. Is there any solution to this?

Customer service is a thorny issue for most DSL users. If you've gone through the process of installation, you probably already know that. The high volume of demand for services from DSL providers translates into long waits for installation and resolution of regular customer service problems.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>Once your installation is complete, the idea is that your DSL connection should always be available to you. If this isn't true, you should contact your provider and report the problem. It may be an issue relating to installation or to your hardware or software. Those issues are probably solvable but may require (again!) a long waiting time. If the problem relates to the DSL provider's services, they need to know that too and promptly.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>You can always check out user reviews of ISPs offering DSL (as well as all things DSL) at DSL Reports. You may find that customer service isn't the main product of your chosen provider. In that case, you can always attempt to find another.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>None of this helps you get connected to the Internet right away when your DSL just isn't working. Whenever anyone switches to DSL, I suggest they keep their dial-up ISP for two months. Yes, you are paying for two connections. Yes, I know you're on a budget. However, this redundancy allows you to be sure you can get to the Internet when you need to. Two months should give both you and your DSL provider time to get your relationship on firm footing.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>If you really, really don't want to pay for two Internet connections, hook yourself up with a couple (yes, I mean "couple") of free ISPs. Free ISPs have their own set of problems, however.<:LINEBREAK:><:LINEBREAK:>Good luck and keep chanting the high speed mantra: It's worth it; it's worth it; it's worth it . . .
