techsoup recently highlighted the availability of Symantec's pcAnywhere 12.5. The specifications on both techsoup.org and at www.symantec.com/norton/symantec-pcanywhere seem to say that the remote computer must be running Windows, though the host computer can run OS X, Linux or Windows. Here are some possible deal breakers:
The Host and Remote specs do not list Windows 7 in System Requirements, and the symantec.com illustration is captioned "For Windows XP/Vista®." What about all those Windows 7 licenses we have bought here (or can continue buying until June)?
The Remote specs, and the symantec.com caption, do not seem to include OS X or Linux -- is this right?
The Host specs allow some versions of Red Hat, SUSE and Novell Linux; how about Ubuntu or other distros?
Since Host can be on XP Home or Novell Linux Desktop 9.0, why not on Ubuntu desktop? (I'm not personally interested in putting it on Ubuntu desktop; just curious, and maybe someone else would do that. I would like the Remote on Ubuntu desktop, since I don't have Windows at home.)
It is not at all clear from techsoup stock how to order more licenses; it is clear that we can get only 2 products per year, but up to 100 licenses for each; I suppose that we have to go ahead with a single order and add licenses later in the techsoup ordering process?
