I as well have found Malwarebytes to be effective at both detection and removal of that family of malware.
However it it doesn't always restore all of the registry settings (such as the disabled taskmgr) so I follow-up with Spybot as well.
FWIW, my regularly maintained clients never get infected with these things. They might see the initial pop up screen inviting them to take (inappropriate) action, but restricted access logins prevent actual infection.
