Any Authorize.net providers with NO MONTHLY fees (we have very few monthly transactions)

07-12-2009 11:22 AM

Hi,

The bulk of our online transactions come from periodic event ticket sales.  Does anyone know of any Authorize.net providers who offer a 'no monthly fee' structure for non-profits with a low number of  transactions per month?  I know it may sound crazy, but you never know until you ask!

We currently use PayPal via CiviCRM.  Even though PayPal no longer requires an account, their user interface is still confusing to would be ticket buyers.  They don't want to sign-up with PayPal and decide to just buy at the door, or not at all.

Thanks for any leads...

Dear crucialarts,

Take a look at this chart of online donation vendors from Affinity Resources.  It lists several of vendors that don't charge a monthly fee, and many that didn't supply this information and therefore might not (or might).  I think there's a mistake on the chart -- or confusion, at least.  It says Network for Good charges $29.95/month.  That's for GroundSpring's Donate Now service.  But you can use Network for Good's standard service without a monthly fee, with the caveat that you get no control over the design or content of the donations page.  Also, Razoo, which isn't on the chart, processes donations through Network for Good and doesn't charge a monthly fee.  In fact, they're not even charging a transaction fee at the moment.  They do give you some control over the content on the donations page.

Thanks for the response.  I'm looking at IATS (via Ticketmaster) and a few other Authorize.net providers.  I think a 'no-fee' situation isn't to be found, so I'm now looking for a low fee merchant account.  I will review the article you suggested....

If you are using PayPal, there are a couple of options to have it work just like any credit card purchase system. They even have a "shopping cart" you can use for different products.

My point is that it you set it up correctly, it can be just as easy and non-confusing as any other online checkout system I have seen.

There is a coupon for non-profit org at $6 for the Authorize.net gateway.

Get coupon at http://hostingsupercenter.com/authorizenet_coupon_nonprofit.htm and then apply for it at www.unitedbankservice.com

Hope that helps.

Dear eztech,

What's your relationship (if any) to hostingsupercenter or unitedbankservice?  I see you've recommended the latter once before.  I have to say that their web sites don't inspire confidence.

Robert, actually our church uses unitedbankservice if you need a referral.  calvary-ministries.com

I have provided  the nonprofit coupon which I am sure will be useful.  You can also search coupons on the web.  I am not why you should made the remark you did.  Hope that helps.

eztech,

I just need to make sure you don't work for either company.  Thanks for clarifying, and for the coupon.

Talking about coupons, here is coupon from the company I work for.  I am sure it may be useful for someone, and does it matter if I work for HP Hewlett-Packard and still share a coupon??  [link removed by admin]

As for cheap Authorize.net gateway, I suggest unitedbankservice.com as it came highly recommended by many people.

Hi eztech,

The first coupon is pertinent to the conversation, so it makes sense.  This particular HP coupon actually does violate the Community Rules and Standards, particularly number 3 where it would fall under advertisement.  If HP truly wants to take care of the non-profit communities via TechSoup, they should contact Gayle Samuelson Carpentier at TechSoup Stock, she is involved in the product offerings through the website.  She would love to work with HP to get their fantastic hardware available for non-profits at a discount price.  Like Sun has done with some of their hardware.

Hi eztech,

Chris said it better than I could and I just want to affirm his statement. If you have any further questions about our policies, please feel free to contact me directly offlist.

Thanks for your understanding.

Best,

Megan

Sorry about that..  HP is a Fortune 10 company, I am just 1 of 150000 employees and do not have influence over the advertising.  I usually share coupons at the popular coupon sites at  retailmenot or fatwallet and will post it there in future.    Regards.

post there are no "NO Monthly fee" online processing services that provide a "real" merchant account.  But there are special offers out there for Non-Profits.  I see all sort of options from our end being a payment systems and industry consultant for close to 12  years.

If you want some recommendations or offers feel free to email me at : msinfo@merchantseek.com or info@donorcharge.com

Thanks,

Joe
