Anything similar to Wild Apricot out there?

We've signed up for the trial of Wild Apricot. We like it, but the price ($25/month = $300/year (or $270/year with 1 yr prepaid)) is still a little steep for us.  Our annual budget about $5,000 which goes right back into programming. Can Wild Apricot imbed .flv files?

We're currently using Joomla with CiviCRM which is excellent.  However, the periodic upgrades are a bother for our 'free-lance' tech person who helps us out for free, but is more of a website designer than a server side type person.

Any suggestions for less expensive online/hosted software similar to Wild Apricot or an easier way to handle CiviCRM upgrades?

Thanks!

Over the past couple of years I have helped others look at Association type software. My conclusion is that you get what you pay for. Typically the more expensive ones give you more features and more options. Wild Apricot is OK  but given some of its limitations I doubt that it will do flash well.

Thanks EWJ,

We decided we didn't want to give up the flexibility and customization of Joomla w/CiviCRM so we've decided to find a host that will handle the upgrades (we are okay with design and implementation), or just pay for professional upgrade assistance on our current shared hosting service.  That is the best all around solution.  AND, we can get this for less than or about the same as the cost of Wild Apricot.

Being able to imbed .flv files is essential for us.

You can embed .flv files in Wild Apricot - or in any kind of website.

If you expect lots of people viewing your vidoes I would recommend using a specialized video hostng like vimeo (you can still embed the files anywhere)
