Hello, My name is Jeff from NY!! I have a question about donations.....

Hi all,

We recently purchased some MS software and Cisco hardware from Tech Soup.  My predecessor has ordered things before and this experience was very good for me.

I have a question about donations in general, I know we pay an admin fee, but the software is worth much more.  For accounting purposes, how would I get a correct list of retail value for what was donated to my organization?

Thanks!

Jeff

The first email you received from Microsoft informing you of the order did list retail pricing for the total amount of the order.  Also you can download from Microsoft a spread sheet of all the open license charity pricing for Microsoft products.  (search on the Microsoft site for open charity pricing) That would be the fairest price comparison to what you ordered to what it would have cost you for charity retail.  The normal commercial price wouldn't be the best compare since you would qualify for the open charity pricing.

You may also be able to find the charity pricing on the consistent computer bargains, cdw or pcmall web site.

Thanks Dave.

I have not received an email from MS yet.  I assume I need to send in my check before the next process starts?

Yes,  the emails are part of the post sales process.  You can still look at the price list from Microsoft, or the pricing from the other retailers before you order of course.

Hi Jeff--

"What Dave said".

Hope that helps clear things up for you, but please don't hesitate to post if you have any further questions, order-related or otherwise.

Best,

Megan
