Promoting Facebook

Well I have taken the leap and created an organizational page. I have 3 followers who are members but with a budget of "lets not talk about it" how do I promote it beyond email tags and a badge on our website?

Our Page:

Good question. Do you have an organizational newsletter (either print or email) you could promote your Facebook page to? If you have a blog, consider linking from the blog as well and creating a blog entry about the new page. Also if you are using any other social networking tools, I'd be sure to promote your page through these channels.

I'd also invite potentially interested contacts from your personal Facebook account and using your personal account to promote your page (posting about it to your Facebook status, etc.). If you are on any relevant email listservs, I would suggest posting about it there,  as appropriate.

Another easy way to promote your page is by having a link to it in your email signature line, so there is a link to it in every email you send out.

Be sure to also check out our Facebook resource page for some sources for more tips.

Anyone else have some good promotion suggestions?

Best,

Megan

A couple of things to keep in mind - anyone who becomes a fan will then see any posted items on your page's "Wall" - which is a really good thing. However I noticed that you have your settings such that the only wall items that show are ones you post. There is a setting you can switch so that the wall shows not only what you post but what your fans post. This setting change will encourage conversation. That in itself could help make your page more active and give folks and incentive to want to share it.

The other thought is: who are you trying to reach with your fan page?  If you are already reaching out to this audience in real life, tell them that you are on FB now and give them a link. Also include it in any press releases you distribute.
