Microsoft Products Rejection

03-02-2009 2:41 PM

I attempted to purchase several Microsift products along with two Adobe products.and one Intuit product. The Adobe and Intuit went through fine but the site said we were ineleigible for the Microsoft products. We have obtained Microsift products from you in the past (2 years ago) but no cannot. Has there been a change to the donation program that now makes us ineligible?

We are a 501(c)(3) organization that hes been registered with you for several years.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry to hear that, and since I don't work at TechSoup, I can't really help you other than give you what I give everyone who has been rejected of Microsoft: the gift of OpenOffice

Check it out, and if you still feel you need MS, then go ahead and go through the hoops.  A lot of people (such as myself) find that Open Office does most (if not everything and more) that they wanted in MS and soon forget about MS eligibility rules.

Hello there, sorry to hear about your rejection.  What is the message that says you have been rejected?  You are only allowed 5 titles in a 2 year period.  Is it possible that you have met that threshold?

Hi Robert,

You are being restricted from placing an order due to the "Organization Type" you selected during registration.  To view your current "Organization Type," log on to your TechSoup account at http://www.techsoup.org/stock, then click on "Edit Organization Profile" on the left-hand purple bar.

Eligibility for donations from each of our partners is based on the type/subtype that you choose during the registration process and at times our partners do make adjustments to their eligibility requirements. If you feel that the organization type/subtype that you are currently registered with is inaccurate, you may change it to a more appropriate one. The type/subtype code that you choose should best describe the work of your organization.

Please review the different organization types listed in this link: https://www.techsoup.org/stock/registration_types_and_subtypes.asp

Microsoft's eligibility requirements are outlined here:  http://www.techsoup.org/stock/restrictions.asp#ms

In order for us to qualify your organization again with any new organization type and subtype, please draft and fax us a valid "Organization Type Explanation" document including the five essential elements listed below.  If your letter doesn't include all five elements, we will not be able to accept it and another Organization Type Explanation request will be sent to you.

Please make sure your letter:

    *      Is written on your organization's letterhead
    *      Specifically details the Organization Type with which your organization was previously registered
    *      Specifically details the current Organization Type you indicated in your organization profile
    *      Explains the reason this new category is a better fit for your organization--include your mission statement or a description of your activities to justify this change
    *      Includes your name, job title, email address and telephone number

Please fax this document to TechSoup Stock at (415) 633-9444.  Once we receive this, we will requalify your organization and process any pending or future orders.

Although we have no doubt that your work is very important and a great service to the community, each of our donating partners has specified nonprofit organization types which they are most interested in supporting through donations of their products.

If you find that you are not eligible for the Microsoft Product Donation Program through TechSoup Stock, please check out this list of Charity Resellers who provide software to non-profits at significantly discounted rates: http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/downloads/charity.doc
