Hi Becky--
Since it's the time of year for all kinds of New Years resolutions, I thought it would be interesting to look back at last year's tech resolutions for 2008 that we also posted on TechSoup blog:
Backup that data!: I did so-so on this one. I'm pretty good about regularly backing up data on my mobile phone, but less so w/ my harddrive. I tend to only do it when I'm having computer trouble or am upgrading some part of my laptop and make a backup just in case. This year, I'm resolving to set up regular backup reminders on my calendar so I back up data every month to two months.
Do Your Reading: Generally I do a lot of reading. Even if I don't stay up with the day to day blog posts, I do a little catch-up here and there so I stay informed of what's going on. I find that Twitter serves as a good way that I find out information that often is more useful than my blog RSS reader. For 2009, my goal is to downsize my RSS feeds and stick to just those feeds that I find value in consistently and subscribe to Google Alerts as needed for any term I want to track.
Ask For Feedback: I have done a pretty good job with this one. Twitter has been a wonderful source for answers to many questions I have. But these forums remains one of the best places I get tech questions answered. Most recently, I got answers to my question about transferring contacts from a Palm to an iPhone.
Share the Wealth: Also kept this one going pretty well, whether it's sharing any answers I have in the forums, or in response to Twitter questions or that person in the office with a question that I can help with. It helps keep me learning (by explaining it to others) and I love spreading the word about handy tips and applications that can help make life easier. All the more important to keep on sharing, especially as rough economic times roll in with 2009.
