'Tis the Season for a New Forums Platform

Hi TechSoup Community members--

As I'm sure you've noticed, the TechSoup message boards have a new look! We've launched a new forums platform that will have many new Web 2.0 features that will help connect our community tools with existing external communities and resources. With the change, we plan to continue providing further enhancements to make the TechSoup community a robust and useful destination for our users.

We'd love to know what you think of the change! Post any feedback you have here.

I'm trying to like it, but there are a few things that are bugging me:

1) The default font size is uncomfortably small for me.

2) The message areas have a scroll bar unless I expand my browser window onto my second monitor. My main monitor is 1024 x 768 so I don't think I should have to do this.

3) Some of my old links like http://www.techsoup.org/fb/ no longer work as expected.

Hey Christian,

You may adjust your font size in your your profile.

Click on the My Account link near the top.

Click the Site Options tab

And under Font Size select the font size you'd like to use.

For bug number 2: This is more of an issue if you are an admin/monderator on the site. For all other users they'dhave to make their browser window really small to get the scroll bar. We are still working on this and I'll ping ya once we release a fix to the forums.

Hi Megan,

I feel like the guy who jumped out the window on the 12th floor.  As he passed the 8th floor, he said: "So far so good!"  If I spot any bugs, I'll be sure to let you know.

Not a bug as such, but a weirdness:  When I use "Enter" to go to the next line, the page shifts down so the new line is at the bottom of the screen.  When spellcheck flags a misspelling a right click does not offer suggested corrections. "Preview" would make more sense next to "Post" at the end, instead of next to "Related Messages" at the top.

This is my second post, but first time on the forum so I can't comment on the change. But I will say that I love that more and more forums are moving to a familiar UI. The use of a traditional "Wordpress" tool bar offers simplicity and "Tags" are a great addition as well. Overall, an easy forum as they should be! Great job.

I agree - thanks Tech Soup for making the forums easier and easier to work with and become a part of.

Our organization recently joined so there is no knowledge of the past for me here at TechSoup.
This posting was simple to create and format and the spell check works good.
