Getting Patches / Updates to Symantec Endpoint Protection?

I'm considering purchasing Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) from TechSoup Stock to replace the aging Symantec Client Security product that we are currently using. I realize and understand that Symantec products obtained through TechSoup are not eligible for support from Symantec, but what I'm not clear on is whether I will be able to download the patches and updates to the product from Symantec.

Has anyone purchased SEP from TechSoup, and after doing so, have you been able to download the current patches and maintenance releases from the Symantec web site?

I'm okay with not having support from Symantec for SEP, but I don't want to proceed with the purchase unless I know that I can download the latest maintenance releases and patches for the product (especially since it seems that some of the most recent patches are essential to make the product work acceptably.)

Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

After speaking with Symantec directly,  they assured me that whether you purchase (SEP) from us Techsoup or any retailer including them; you are eligible for all patches and updates.

Reggie, are the updates for Symantec Endpoint Protection for the Clint only as you can download here  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/downloads.jsp?pid=54619 or can you download the updates for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager?

If the updates are available for the Manager part of the system, how would one go about obtaining these?  The File Connect below requires one to enter the serial# for your product.

Where could one find their serial#?

"NOTE: This patch will only upgrade 32-bit Clients. If you need to upgrade your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to 11.0 MR4 MP1a you must download the complete update from File Connect."
