Hi I am at my wits end trying to figure out who is the best vendor to use purchasing a new computer. Dell is so hard to work with, I just got fed up with them. Can anyone advise me to accompany that has reasonable prices for nonprofits.
Thank you so much,
sincerely,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, our org has had good luck in the past with Gateway/MPC, but recently we had a hiccup with their speed of production. A local vendor became a Lenovo reseller/authorized repair depot, so we decided to give them a shot at our business. The Lenovo's that we have put in place have been very reliable so far. Business class machines tend to last longer, so if you can fit it into your budget, go with that instead of one intended for home use. Best of luck to you!

We purchased some Dells at the end of last year and a third gave us some problems so we decided to switch to Lenovo. So far they have been working great. We tend to keep the computers for more than 5 years and we feel Lenovo is providing good quality computers.
Hi Jeff,
I'm partial to Dell desktops so I'll avoid speaking about Dell in your case.
But what I can tell you is that Gary gave you some valuable advice regarding going with business class machines. They cost slightly more but if you can go this route with any of the major manufacturers then you'll get more robust systems and access to better tech support.
The components used even in the lower end business-class machines are generally better quality than in the systems intended for home use. So just something for you to keep in mind.
Hope you'll get additional vendor recommendations here.

Lenovo. Dell's not what they used to be.
Yann makes a very good point about business-class machines. Step up from the cheapest machines any vendor's selling if you can afford it. You don't have to buy the most expensive computers, but you do get what you pay for.
