How do I add a counter to the site?
This is a good program and should include this feature. I can't find it.
Thank you for any help.

A visible counter is simply a bad idea. Use Google Analytics (free) to get an exact count of the number of visitors coming to your pages.

Hit counters are out of style and don't provide much information, but I don't see anything "bad" about them.

You can search for a script to add to your site or get a free counter code from a site like our FreeHitCounter.us and add it to your home page.

But the best option is to find out what web traffic reports are available from your hosting company and just use those. If your host doesn't offer this, then I would consider something like Google Analytics.

What is "good" about a hit counter? They are not accurate (reloading the page advances the count). Too low a "count" and the site looks like it isn't important/popular. Too high a "count" and no one believes it anyway. It conveys no valuable information to the user. Trash it.

Hi Gini,

I must agree with everyone else on this -- please avoid using a hit counter.

The best thing for you to do, instead of using a hit counter, is to go with a web analytics tool for your site -- one like Google Analytics, which was suggested to you.

Google Analytics is completely free to use, very powerful, and best of all nobody else but you will have access to your site's statistics. It's very easy to set it up on your site -- just add a little piece of code to your web pages, and GA takes care of the rest!
