I am pleased to announce that through a new partnership with ESRI, we now offer donated ArcInfo licenses through Techsoup, and expect to expand our ESRI catalog in the near future.

Simply Accounting is what we use for our accounting practises. Also I understand Sharepoint is a good program as well.
Simply Accounting is preferred by many Canadian accountants because nothing can be erased so that there is always a good paper trail of everything that occurs so that there are no questions regarding your books.
Share Point is something new and recommended for websites and all sorts of things including databases.
I would like to hear from some people who are using it.

Simply accounting is the preferred accounting software by many Canadian accountants. It would be really appreciated if we could get it through TechSoup.

Hi everyone,
First thanks again for keeping us updated re: your on-going wish lists. For all those good folks seeking Apple software. Thought it would be useful to quote something I was told today by a fairly senior Apple Exec who asked not to be named,
"As a corporate position, we are working to make our shareholders as profitable as possible so THEY can help nonprofits themselves. Apple does not publicly have plans to direct support nonprofits at this time."
Do know I ask them regularly to revisit this (as it has been their philosophy for a long while) , or at least extend their educational discounts to the NPO community - but so far no one is changing the answer. If anyone out there has leverage within Apple, please write directly to me and I'll be happy to push whatever buttons become available.
Happy holidays everyone!

Gayle,
Re: Apple donations
Do you tell them that their position may be counter-productive? Nonprofits cannot practically look up the major Apple shareholders to ask for Apple donations; by that model no nonprofit would ever use Apple hardware. (I know that I have never been enticed to buy a Mac PC (at approximately double the price of a Windows or Linux PC), even though for some purposes a Mac is better. And that put-off is just the hardware cost; I never get very far in considering the software costs. MS's more successful strategy has always been to make their software ubiquitous. They used to do this by giving away MS Office with all new major-brand PCs, and wait to collect a little money from upgrades. Now they have so much market control that they can demand high prices from everyone, except for non-profits (who often could be put off by big bills from MS), and so they still keep themselves ubiquitous by giving it away to nonprofits.

Hi Jesse,
Oh yes, we have had this conversation many times, but it appears the "no NPO donations or discounts" comes from the very top of the Apple hierarchy - so until someone gets to the CEO offices, we can't deliver that message directly unfortunately.
I posted my earlier message to let folks know are are trying, and to enlist any leads or contacts we can leverage from the larger TS community.

We're trying to connect to rural Oregon using the Internet. an d e-learning to do some skill building "webinars."
We'd like:
Captivate
A more cost-effective method of meeting online (Ready Talk is great, but if you have 20 pple in a room at .06 Cents per minute, you spend $50/session pretty fast. Our customers typically do not have VOIP - they are state and county workers...).
Something like Adobe Prsenter.

Here is what would make for an absolutely complete system for our staff:
Adobe Creative Suite 4 - Master Collection
Sony Vegas Pro (8.0)
Cakewalk, Abelton Live, Protools
The hardware solutions list would be never ending...

Hi,
ArcInfo? Or just ArcView?
Thanks a million in either case.
Any chance for some key extensions to become available? Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst in particular. If only Arcview licenses are available then it would be good to have access to ArcPublisher as well.
