Database Software

Hi,

My organization currently has a database software to organize our mailing list (I have not yet seen it since this is handled at a separate location) but I have heard that it is not a very good program. I have been asked to find a software that allows us to organize a mailing list and that can provide an alert for when someone's membership is up for renewal. I was hoping someone here could help point me in the right direction. Please bear in mind that I know very little about this sort of thing so any explanations for me would have to be quite basic. Thanks in advance

Since you are talking about mailing list and membership, this article might be of use:

Hi, you might want to check out Akubo (www.akubo.net). It's a database for small organizations but it also has mailing list capabilities. It's exclusively for small organizations so no more than 5000 records. We use it for a non-profit we're involved with, but I also use it for my small business, so it's very flexible. There's a birthday field and also another customizable date field and you can run reports on those fields. They're also adding a feature for email alerts that can be setup for those date fields. And it's web-based, so you can access it from anywhere.

Hi,

Database software is discussed quite a bit here at TechSoup. You might want to check out this thread,
