Does your nonprofit use a hosted or installed CRM tool? If so, which do you use, and what has been your experience with it? Would you recommend it to other organizations?

The Princeton Senior Resource Center needs a database that can report on donations of various types, volunteer activities, client services provided, and course registrations and attendance. The same individual can be involved in all of these areas. We did not find any software on the market that could handle all this at a reasonable cost, so we had a consultant develop a specialized database for us. It has evolved over the past two years, and while it still needs some refinement, it is working. We still need work on formatting reports and on the front end input screens.

We use Akubo which was actually initially developed specifically for us, but is now also available for other small organizations (non-profits and small biz). You can check it out at
www.akubo.net. It's a simple CRM solution that is customizable yet very easy to use. And it's web-based so our staff and volunteers can access it from anywhere from any type of computer.
