SmugMug.com - Free

Hello everyone! I am new to your site. My manager just sent me a link this morning and I'm really excited to be here!

I recently found SmugMug.com while researching sites to post office pics/vids that were clogging up the file server. SmugMug.com offers non-profits organizations a free "Pro" account. This normally costs $149.00 a year!!

The site is very similar to Flickr but doesn't have to be linked to any particular e-mail account or login (like Yahoo, etc.). Be sure to tell them where you heard the news (TechSoup of course) :)

Here's a link to the info:

Enjoy!!

Hi Jeff--

Welcome to TechSoup and so glad you've hopped on in and joined the conversation! Would love to hear more about your org. if you'd like to introduce yourself in intro. forum. :wink2;

I love SmugMug! I've had a standard account for my personal photos and really like their slick user interface and having the ability to back up all of your uploaded photos. This is great news for nonprofits, so I'm so glad you're letting others know about it. The pro account gives you a lot of handy features--in particular, the ability to upload hi-def video and the ability to use your own host name are a big draw.

Best,

Megan

Does Smug Mug allow users to make their videos and pics private (ie viewers are unable to download, etc.)? I ask because we work with youth and realize more than ever in this digital age, we want to protect and respect not only our constituents, but the kids and families we work with.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks for telling us about SmugMUg!

Hi Everyone,

I am the person that you need to talk to about setting up your free
Pro account on SmugMug.

I have actually been here a couple of times in the past but since now I am getting a lot of requests and people referencing Tech Soup, I thought I would pop in and answer questions directly.

YES. SmugMug offers all the privacy and security features to protect all your photos. We have many many elementary schools using our service and they sometimes password protect their entire site.

Thanks,
Markham

We've just learned about the great offers provided through TechSoup.  The Key Program, Inc. is a private, non-profit serving troubled adolescents.  We currently have a SmugMug standard account and want to know how to convert it to a free Pro account.  Can you help us with this?
