VoIP and PBX with one company?

09-11-2007 9:19 AM

I am part of a small (4 people) nonprofit, and we are moving our facility to a different area code, so I thought we would try VoIP so we can keep our business number.

The other thing I would like to accomplish (because we would no longer have our voicemail system through the phone company) is to find some option through VoIP where we can still have a voice mailbox system for the 4 employees without everyone having seperate phone numbers.

I am having a hard time finding a virtual PBX system that also include the VoIP service.

So my questions are:
1. Can anyone recommend an INEXPENSIVE VoIP service that has such a voicemail service?

OR

2. Can anyone recommend an INEXPENSIVE VoIP service that also provides PBX?

Thanks!

Tanya

Hi Tanya--

One option I've heard about is Pretty May Call Center for Skype. From their site:

Call Center for Skype is a 100% software-based call center solution for Skype.
It allows small or medium businesses to quickly and affordably implement Skype PBX system with auto-attendant, IVR, extension transferring, call recording, personalized voicemail capabilities, and much more.

You might also want to look at Asterik, an open source PBX solution that you can use with VOIP.

Best,

If you use Asterix, then you can also use the Iotum's technology--the relevance engine--to uber-manage call forwarding.

As disclosure, my brother co-owns Iotum, but I still think the product is very cool

The best place for info:

I personally like using Trixbox with analog lines, VoIP can be very tricky to maintain QoS. And every VoIP provider no matter how good will not be up 100% of the time.

Trixbox is CentOS with Asterisk, FreePBX, and a Flash Operator Panel. It does amazing things. It also includes SugarCRM I think.

I have heard a news regarding lanscapecorp.com who have extend an open invitation to the internet community for Free Voip service. I am not sure of the claim but you shall google the stuff to know more of truth in the story. Personally I do use Gomeetnow for all kinda communication purposes, do cost a little but what matters is the confidentiality of info exchange.. :wink2;

Hi Allan--

What is your affiliation with Gomeetnow? You've mentioned it in several of your posts. We do not allow self-promotion in the forums, per our
Community Rules & Standards, so your recommendations carry more weight if you are not affiliated with the company (or a disclaimer if you are).
