Adobe Acrobat 8.0 & Vista

The message I am getting on the download web page of Adobe Acrobat 8.0 is "Adobe Acrobat 8.0 does not currently support Windows Vista. Acrobat 8.0 is planned to support Vista through a future patch release which will not be available until June/July of 2007." Should you download Acrobat 8.0 onto a laptop with Windows Vista now ? Wait ? Is the patch available now ?

It depends. If you are needing the Adobe READER, I have version 8.10 on my Vista Home Premium and it works just fine.

If you need the whole Adobe software and are paying for that, I recommend you wait to download/install on Vista until it says that it supports Vista.

I have been using Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.1.0 on a Windows Vista Ultimate edition since March 31 with no apparent problems.

Wow! I am not alone. I purchased Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional to install on my laptop which has Vista Home Premium. I still can't get the link to Adobe's web site to even open on that computer.

Is there any help out there? I've spent time on tech support with Techsoup, Adobe, Microsoft AND Gateway to no avail. Everybody wants to point fingers at another source, but meanwhile I still can't get this software to download on my computer.

Frustrating.

Adobe is aware of these issues, and recommends download customers to call:

800-642-3623 for installer issues

This is the direct line to technical download support not found on the site. Or can either dial 800-833-6687 and press option 3-3 for mac prods.

cahmco, have your calls to Adobe solved the problem yet? Let us know if there was a solution that worked or if you are still having trouble.

Best,
