Have you used screencasts for training purposes? What tools did you use to create it, and what was the result? Would you do it again?

Hello:
Thank you for a very well organized, informative article.
I have just begun to do some screencasting and I think it is an excellent way to share information. I would like to add a piece of software to the list for Mac OSX users: iShowU from http://www.shinywhitebox.com. It is $20. and a demo is available.
All the best,
Andrew Darlow

If you've come across this thread in the forums and are interested in learning more about screencasting, please see Idealware's article
An Introduction to Screencasting, which outlines tips and tools for creating your own screencast.
Andrew,
Thanks for that tip!
I have an extensive primer on screencasting for nonprofits - it includes the article that from Idealware that I authored and referenced above.
I have also identified many different examples of screencasting and pointed to them as well as included some tips and reflections on the production process.

screencasting can also be used for a beta testing too!
I found a bunch of different examples and uses and have included links to them here:
