I am looking to place an event calendar on our organizations web site does anyone have any software recommendations? I am open to free or cost based solutions but we must be able to manage this on our own and host on our own. Thanks!

If you use GMail, the Calendar tool can be shared and embedded on a site for easy updating.
There are numerous event calendar modules available with any of the open source CMS's.
Also...check out www.trumba.com
I took their trial and liked the function and flexibility.

We have been using
WebCalendar as a public events/programs calendar. It's been a good system for us. It's php/mysql and pretty easy to set up, but some HTML and CSS knowledge is useful.

Hello,
We can help you set this up using existing software. It's just a matter of integration. Please check us out at www.elevacion.org. We are a non-profit web and graphic design firm.

We use the free Calendars.net service and I embed it in our website. It works well enough but for some reason I can't seem to create a new Calendar off the US servers (http://my.calendars.net/xxnewcalxx/admin), and had to create one from the European domain (http://eur.calendars.net/xxnewcalxx/admin). The only downside with that approach is that it occasionally times out on our website - probably too many hops involved.

If your site is on a Microsoft server, The Ocean12 ASP Calendar Manager is free and easy to set up. It's a classic ASP/VBscript/Access Database system:

I say check out Google Calendar first. It's free. It has a lot of options, including posting on your web page.

Try 30boxes.com as well. Worked well for me. And it's free last I checked.
