OpenOffice.org 2.1 Is Here

OpenOffice.org 2.1 is recommend for all users, as it represents a significant improvement over all previous versions. Among other things:

* Multiple monitor support for Impress
* Improved Calc HTML export
* Enhanced Access support for Base
* Even more languages
* Automatic notification of updates

An OS/X version (fork) of OOO is available that uses the Aqua interface, as opposed to the main branch of OOO which requires X.11 (which is just plain ugly and dificult to use). NeoOffice, from http://www.neooffice.org, is stable, but a bit slower than the main branch of OOO.

There's a cost to download a compiled version prior, but the source code is available for free and can be compiled relatively easy. There are also innumerable pre-compiled binaries available on other sites.

The upstream OpenOffice.org has made significant progress on the native Aqua look-and-feel for Mac users. It does it without Java unlike NeoOffice, but NeoOffice is further along. You can read some news and see some screenshots in Eric Bachard's blog:
