We used the Vista MAC key on our eopen page. Working like a champ on our notebooks. Of course they are all less than a year old and more than meet the min requirements. I've got to say, I like the new Vista and Office 2007! But...it's not something that I will have to have on all of our machines here or even personally. At least not right away. Our desktops are still just fine with XP Pro and Office 2003. A lot of what is going on is hype and want over need.

How many activation does your MAC(K) key allows?

According to the blog post on
MS Small Business Commuity Blog
The software assurance licence on eopen website allows us to upgrade to Vista Business, Vista Enterprise or Vista Ultimate. However, Vista Ultimate is not going to be available for download anywhere. It is only available through physical media (CD/DVD).

But how does one go about ordering the Windows Vista Ultimate media once it becomes available through SA?

Ok, the only thing I didn't understand is:
4. Follow directions for changing the KMS license to a MAC license. This is the key you will use to install Windows Vista.
Where specifically is this on the license page?
Hello all,
If you need clarification on Volume License Key confusion, I suggest contacting Microsoft's VLK hotline: 1-888-352-7140. They may ask for your license number and authorization number, so you should have that at hand - those numbers are available on your Order Status page on TechSoup Stock.
Also, just FYI, for those of you interested in using your Software Assurance to upgrade from XP to Vista or from Office 2003 to Office 2007, the number you need to call is: 1-800-248-0655. Reminder: you can only use your Software Assurance to upgrade within 2 years of the fulfillment of your order. Again, you will need to have your license number and authorization number available.
Enjoy!

I just got a MSDN Premium subscription, so I was able to download the Microsoft Vista ISO image. It has all the version including Ultimate, except Enterprise.
You should be able to get Ultimate from any Microsoft Vista DVD that you may buy from a store or borrow from a friend etc.
Hi folks,
Just wanted to make sure that you are all aware that an upgrade to Windows Vista is now being offered on the TechSoup Stock site!
This product is available at TechSoup for an admin fee of $10, thanks to a generous donation from Microsoft. To learn more and place your donation request:

Also, do keep in mind that Windows Vista Business requires significant system resources and upgrading is a decision that each organization will have to make based on their individual situation. Check out our Vista FAQ for more info!
Please feel free to post your Vista-related questions on this forum!

Careful. TechSoup has the
UPGRADE version of Vista. There are several reasons one might better avoid the Vista upgrade, such as listed
here
Personally I haven't had any problems with the Vista upgrade on our PC's... Jesse I guess there will always be media commentators who dislike something (and plenty of links to this type of media hype), but does anyone have any real upgrade issues to report? - It would be good to start open and factual dialogue about Vista within the NPO community as we start to build a Vista support-base.
Like it or not Vista is here to stay...
Cheers, Don

If you purchase a Windows Upgrade (such as the Vista Upgrade being offered now by TechSoup) do you get downgrade rights or you only get those if you purchase the full OS?
Also, with the Windows Vista Upgrade being offered at TechSoup do you get access to any other versions besides Business? I know that with the Windows XP upgrade w/ Software Assurance you get access not only to Vista Business but also Vista Enterprise.
Furthermore, has anyone confirmed with Microsoft that if you purchase Windows XP w/ Software Assurance you get access to the upgrade path for Windows Vista Ultimate? I know it was mentioned earlier on in this thread as a possibility (if you order the media) but I don't think anyone got an actual confirmation from Microsoft on this and I haven't had any luck thus far.
Great questions, SongMan! I'm looking into this, and I'll get back to you shortly.
Thanks,
Anne

[*]...any real upgrade issues to report?[/*]
Well, I have only one computer that could make use of Vista's new features, and I have no reason to rush into an upgrade. If I were going to "upgrade," I believe that I should wipe the disk and install the full version of Vista (not currently available through TechSoup), not the upgrade version. It seems that people who are paid to experiment with these upgrade questions, and who do not have a general animosity toward Microsoft, have real issues to report with the upgrade. Even for new purchases, rather than upgrades, many, many astute fans of Windows always avoid the new versions until one or two service packs have been released.
So IF NPOs would indeed be more candid and trustworthy in their opinions about Windows, there could be some special value in their reporting their actual experiences with Vista, but they should probably be very circumspect about rushing to upgrade. (However, regarding trustworthiness, I may have a bias, notwithstanding being involved with an NPO, because of many years of frustrations and bitter experiences with the Microsoft monopoly.) Yes, people rash enough to upgrade to Vista on their old hardware will probably need a good Vista support base. But maybe we should think mainly of a support base for people who get Vista on new computers?
None can dispute that Vista is here to stay. Given the realities of the modern economy and the power of Microsoft, Vista will dominate a substantial part of our consciousness for many years to come, even if there are better products trying to compete. Accepting that reality does not, in any way, indicate that I should UPGRADE to Vista now.
