I am recommending that our non-profit implement Salesforce.com as we qualify for their FREE enterprise edition - 10 license program. However, I'm also proposing that we spend $7K on a "discovery" phase with a SFDC consultant, followed by an engagement to configure the software for $20 - $30K (est.). Our Board thinks this is "too expensive". I need some budgetary figures for the INITIAL SET-UP and CONFIGURATION/HARDWARE investment for the other Vendors listed on the Tech Soup comparison chart. CAN ANYONE PROVIDE THESE BUDGETARY FIGURES THAT I COULD SHARE WITH OUR BOARD. The numbers in the spreadsheet currently seem extremely low. THANKS!

I recently assisted a nfp in an extensive evaluation of most of the listed products. For their needs, DonorPro from TowerCare (not listed here) clearly came out at the top of their list.

Where is FilemakerPro? Is it not standard enough for comparison? In my experience, it is one of the affordable options, although maintenance and training can become an issue later on.

We, like most vendors, price our systems based on a variety of factors, such as number of users, number of records in the system, which additional tools and services you wish to utilize, etc.
Depending on those variables, $35K may be a great deal, or a horrible one.
If you could provide those details, I bet you'd get a more detailed response ;-)

As you have already heard, "too expensive" is vague matter. If you are the Red Cross, with a requirements list as long as your arm implementing a custom Oracle application, you might be getting a good deal. If you are a mid-size npo with 20-30 users, you are probably paying way too much.
We have had a number of clients who implemented our software do so after going the consultant/evaluation route. As I review some of their end-result evaluations and recommendations, as well as their fees, I have to say that your board is probably not over-reacting. The big caveat, of course, is we on the forum know nothing of your organization and its needs, so it is tough to say anything with any certainty whatsoever.
If you were to post some idea of your npo size and requirements in general, I am sure you will get lots of opinions!

I'm searching for member management AND ticketing software for a small arts organization. I have been looking into three software packages: Tessitura, Blackbaud (Raiser's Edge and Patron Edge) and TheatreManager.
Does anyone have experience with these individual programs? Are there any other programs I have overlooked?
I would appreciate feedback.

Just a note: B2P, the company that used to sell Nonprofitbooks, appears to have gone out of business without notifying their user base.

We have been using Generations by inResonance for the past year. It is based on Filemaker. I wish that we had known about TechSoup and your database comparision while we were doing our search. I think we may have chosen differently. I would like to know if others have experience with Generations and how they like it.
