Has anyone ever exercised their software assurance benifits with regard to upgrading to a newer version of software? I wanted to upgrade from small business server 2003 to small business server 2003 R2 when i do a hardware upgrade. I talked with Techsoup and they said to contact microsoft for the upgrade. Microsoft says you need to have your reseller order it for you. So at this point, i dont know who to get to order it for me. Anyone else ever successfully get software via the software assurance?
Hi - Considering your query is now a few days old I'll try and escalate to see if we can get an answer for you.

Dear Travis,
All information available to me at this time indicates that Microsoft's World Wide Fulfillment team is the entity that should be contacted in regards to the upgrade you were asking about. Unfortunately more than one customer has been redirected back to us with the same information you were given.
We are aware and are working with Microsoft regarding this, and I apologize that I do not have a solid answer to give you at this time. I will post again with a solid answer once it has been provided to me, but I didn't want to give the impression that you had not been heard in the interim!
sincerely,

Thanks to the post from Jodi, i did contact the worldwide fullfillment center and they took my info and a credit card and my new software is on its way. That is the place to contact for exercising SA benifits. You need a license and auth number from your eopen screen. 5 minutes is all it took after finally finding the right place.
Thanks Jodi again for your post giving me somewhere to try. Could i suggest maybe placing the procedure and phone numbers on your web site in a FAQ section or something like that to point people in the right direction.
Travis
Hi Travis - Fantastic - and thanks Jodi-Lee for your help.
Cheers, Don
Dear Travis,
Sorry for the belated reply, the information is actually in our Microsoft FAQ on the website, but as I'd had a few people with the same problem I was concerned that people were essentially being bounced back and forth between our customer service teams. I'm glad you got the assistance you needed, and for the reference of others in need of information about the Microsoft program and applying for upgrades, etc. under their Software Assurance agreement, please visit
this page.
Have a great day!

I've noticed that you can download Vista from EOpen. Why can't one download SBS 2003 R2 or SMS 2003 R2? Would be nice.

The microsoft section of this site is offering old versions of office and windows.. does anyone know if we can buy these old versions with software assistance and then order the current cds instead of ordering the old cds then upgrade?
Alo - if we buy windows Xp with software assurance, does that allow us to use the vista enteprise edition?
