Thesis Topic: Email Solictation

Would any of you be willing to share your success (or nightmare) stories regarding the use of email for Solicitations?
I am currently working on my eSolicitation chapter for my thesis (Digital Development: the Use of Technology in Fundraising). I think I have writer's block and could use fresh inspiration.

Thanks,

Hi Elizabeth,

Interesting thesis topic! - I would be glad to offer input if it would help. My pespective is that of an Email gateway administrator (ie. someone tasked with blocking attempts at Email solicitation from reaching staff). Achieving this task is challenging; sometimes controversial; always interesting!

Any chance you'll be able to post your thesis, or perhaps blog about it along the way? As an author of a popular mail merge sender program (PC iMail) I'd be very interested in hearing about your conclusions.

In fact, if you still are struggling with writer's block you might find my article at http://www.prosoftapps.com/pcimail/howto-sendannouncement.htm helpful. You can probably tell by the url what it covers, but it does have some basic pointers on gathering email contacts and sending personalized mailings - which as you know is more effective than just a mass mailing sent to a Bcc address.
