Hi everyone,
We've posted a
new story about a CTC in India called the Uddami Computer Training Centre. This nonprofit provides local boys and girls with free computer training, and the hope of having a better life.
Have you worked with/been inspired by any organizations like this? Are you interested in starting your own nonprofit to help those in need, whether at home or overseas? Ask questions and share your inspirational stories here!

Thank you for your interest in helping Uddami. We have a page on the website where you can make a donation: http://www.uddami.org/HowYouCanHelp.html
We are also looking for outsource work so that we can help support the school. We would like to keep the computer course free of cost for our students, many of whom could not afford a tuition-based course.
Thanks for asking!

A wonderful story about a great program. International needs are often overlooked by domestic reporters and NPOs (speaking from the US), although international needs are often much greater (from a humanitarian point of view). Thanks to TechSoup for sponsoring this type of reporting, and of course to the project itself.
Education, I think, is the only real solution to poverty.

Alison have you been successful in this area? - I managed a rural Australian CTC for a number of years and we similarly sought outsource work to supplement our income to provide free training services. We also worked with our local school to provide extended training for impoverished students.
I would be interested in expanding a discussion on CTC outsource opportunities with you...
