What vertical markets do you think that this service will work for the best? What pros and cons do you see in ASP?
This sounds a lot like a school assignment question... in what context does your organization plan to use an ASP?
Rgds, Don
I think of ASPs just like I would think of any software publisher. It's just the method of delivery, access, and license of usage that is different.
On the plus side, APSs allow access to their service from any computer with Internet access, often lower cost of entry, and free upgrades generally.
On the negitive you have to have web access, if their system goes down or they go out of business you may be out of luck, if their backups or security has problems, you may be in trouble. Getting a backup copy of your data may not be possible or have additional fees connected with it.
Web access to ASP apps that you JavaScript can be quite slow, even with fast access. And the monthly fees you pay over time can be much more than if you just purchased a software solution outright.
I think those are the main points.
