Membership and Certification Databases
Hello there, We are a membership and certification organization looking to move to a new AMS. Of particular importance to us is an automated means of pulling in certification data (via API or service) from an outside testing vendor and applying it to applicants. We are also interested in an LMS and...

Do you use CyberGrants?
I couldn't find any previous Tech Soup Forum discussion regarding this service. Database options for grantmakers are few and far between, so I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has worked with them (or considered it and decided not to).

Hi all, So I am about to ask dumb questions that have maybe been asked a million times before. I am ED for a small organization, The Otter Project. It is a three person office, so having a savvy IT person is not an option. Ten years ago our member database was ebase, and it worked just fine. We wanted...

9 Reasons Why Google Drive Is a Nonprofit’s Best Friend
Compared to on-site servers, cloud options like Google Drive are still the new kids on the block in terms of data storage solutions. But this new kid has some really sweet kicks. For small-medium nonprofits looking for a solution that’s easy, expandable, and cheap, Google Drive could be your new...

Re: I need a recommendation for a food bank database manager.
There have been some previous discussions about food bank / food pantry software over the years on the TechSoup forum. Might be worth checking out some of these previous discussions to see if there are any good leads/suggestions there: Discussion from 2008 - 2011 . Discussion from 2009-2011 . ...

Access 2007 - can 2 computers be using the database at the same time when using a Laccie?
We just updated our database from Access 2003 to 2007. Before all of our computers could be on the same Access database at the same time. The only exception was that we both could not change the same customer record at the same time, we both could view it, but only the first person to open it could save...

Comparable ODB Database for Mac's?
We are a small non-profit and are currently using a ODB (Organizers Database) for our contact management. We want to switch over completely to Mac’s but ODB doesn’t have a program that will work with a Mac. We like the ODB because it’s easy to use(at least for our purposes) and is free...

Re: Users of Salesforce.com and Access-based Donor management software
We are using ms access 2003 database which has been developed in house over many years. We use it to write receipts, track deposits, write cheques and store hr info. So far it works pretty well in our situation. We have the front end and back end split with the front end as an mde. I read that ms access...

Re: Donor/Volunteer Database
Microsoft Access can certainly be used to create an application such as you are needing. However, as you have found, such is not a trivial matter. I suggest you do a search in the Software forum here for "volunteer" and again for "database". YOu will do a lot of reading but...

General Description of the Salesforce NPO Edition
I am sure this has been mentioned elsewhere BUT always worth a re-do! The Salesforce Nonprofit Edition is a CRM or customer/constituent relationship management platform. Effectively it's a sophisticated and customizable database. You may have heard of Salesforce but wondered what...

Tracking applicant information
I have a dog rescue and am looking to track applicants that apply to adopt or volunteer. I haven't been able to find any free applications that could help with this. liveSite CMS Package

What is the best software for a small start-up non-profit?
Hi, I was a director in an internationally known non-profit for a long time. During that time we used Filemaker and then switched to Raiser's Edge (which I really dislike). I'm helping a non-profit get started and running. I'd like to find a cheap (even free??) software solution that...

Hi Karen, Filemaker is actually one of the only systems of its type that is available on both Macs and PCs. It is the only major option for Macs and is the most popular database solution for Windows. It is even a PC Magazine Editors choice. As a matter of fact this article on PC Magazine http://www...
