We would like to have an app for our annual arts festival. It's not huge, but we do have about 5,000 people over 2 days and run 4 stages of performing arts plus an art fair, food trucks, demonstrations, etc. I'd appreciate any recommendations on how to go about setting up an app. I looked at Grandstand but it's expensive.
Do you really need an APP or can you just use a web site to provide what you want?
Like Chris said, you may not need your own custom app, per se.
There are also companies that give you all the tools you need to build your own app. Think of do-it-yourself app building tools that don't require any technical knowledge to use. This might be a better option for you. Providers like Yapp and the AppInstitute let you create your own mobile app using their own platform. They offer different plans you can to choose from. You get access to the features you need for a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
The good news is that these mobile app-building options costs much less than developing your own proprietary app from the ground up.

Great advice. I'll look into these options. Thanks so much!
