Hello all. I'm Susan with Threads of Mercy, Inc. in Virginia.
I ordered and received a refurb laptop only to discover the Akooba "startup" instructions did not work for me. All I could get was a login screen asking me for my work or school user name and password. I started a support ticket, that was a major disaster! All support has to be done via email. The tech kept asking me the same question over and over. The tech told me I had to create a user name to login each time, which didn't work. It took several hours of waiting for responses before the tech decided the computer was defective. ARGH!
My question is this - are the laptops setup so you can only access Office and the web through Akooba servers? In other words, will I be able to install my own programs or is this laptop locked to prevent usage other than what comes pre-installed? I'm really confused here and feel I've wasted money of my non-profit.

I do not know that company and the web site I found for them didn't offer much information.
They have have some kind of "setup" software that is what you need to log into that will configure your computer, but I am not sure.
You may be paying a price for getting a cheap refurbished computer. But depending on what the company sold you, you should keep after them to deliver what they promised. There are phone numbers on their web site and I would email & call at least once a day so they help you.
If you feel they are not providing what they promised, you should post about it here (just the facts) so others know. Telling the company that you are posting about them may also help. Just tell the facts and try to keep emotion out of it.
But make sure you were not confused about what you were buying either. I was going to check, but I could not find any information about their refurbished products.
