I rescued two older LCD projectors that were about to get tossed. When connected to a laptop, they power up and the laptop recognizes them--but the projected image is essentially the equivalent of static: a bright square with a bunch of little hashmarks everywhere. You can't see any images nor can you pull up the projector's menu. On one hand, they might be broken beyond repair. On the other, they might simply need a new bulb. I'm not interested in trying to fix them, but if they are in fact fixable, it seems a shame to just give up on them. If anyone is interested in a free shot at them, let me know. I'm in Evanston, Illinois and am happy to arrange a drop-off/pick-up within reasonable distance.
