We are a small charity of 2-3 people. Currently we pay $10.00 a month directly to Microsoft for 2 licenses on their E1 365 plan. We also purchased Office 2016 from TechSoup awhile ago. We would like to get Office 2019 for 4 or 5 computers. We currently use all the Office products and the sharepoint/onedrive.
Can I switch to TechSoup's Office 365 easily? Is it cheaper or free?
Do I have to buy the Office 2019 desktop version for $29 each x5 or does one of the 365 plans give you the software? We prefer the desktop versions because the online ones always seemed a bit wonky.
I know this is a bit of nickel and dimeing, but for a small charity it would help.

I would also like to know exactly this! I have bought it, and it is still not clear. I have been through the VLSC process, and the it appears i may have 50 product keys? Nothing else mentioned that, though. It also tells me the value is $588, suggesting it is definitely not just one key.
I believe, based on my experiences (i.e, I'm 96% confident of the answer) that Office 2019 is indeed one $29 licence per machine. That's what we have.
The alternative is one office 365 subscription per machine, at - what is it? $10 per year? - every year. We figure office 2019 will be good for 5 years at least, maybe 10 (we were using office 2007 until this year). Office 365 would cost us $50 to $100 over that period. In addition, we find it easier to get grants for a one-time purchase than an ongoing expense!

Office 2019 is available for a $29.00 administration fee - per computer, but the package does not include the services OneDrive and SharePoint you are already leveraging. However, you can mix and match licenses types. For example, you may utilize an Office 365 E1 license in conjunction with the Office 2019 suite. This is because an Office 365 E1 license does not include downloadable applications and provides Office Online. Office Online (formerly Office Web Apps) opens Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint documents in your web browser.
Lastly, the transition of an existing Microsoft cloud account, or as it’s also referred to as “tenant,” can take some work to enable for nonprofit offers if it was created outside of Microsoft’s cloud registration portal.
