Hi there, I am looking for general advice for now. I will have specific questions for another post. Often I can find the steps to solving what I need to do within the Microsoft products by searching (sometimes finding the right resource through a conversation outside of Microsoft) for documentation. I am certain that I am reinventing the wheel. Someone, somewhere, has surely already done what I need to do.
Has anyone here set up a SharePoint drop-off library or built a form in SharePoint to act as a content management concierge? I am striving to develop a landing page to which content creators can upload files, selecting metadata check boxes as they work.
I can see already that my colleagues, who more often are very easy to work with, simply will not take the time to apply metadata tags to their content. Reliable search and content crawling really depends on metadata no matter which content management system we might use. We have a painful level of duplication and an even more painfully frequent ritual where people "can't find stuff" on the repositories.
Outside of the SharePoint sites, we have a local file server that frankly causes me physical pain when I am looking at the file structure for planning the content migration.
Thanks for any advice, links, or anecdotal stories you might share.
