Microsoft does not provide an msi file for installing Office 2019. The user is supposed to run the ODT tool to create an xml file and download the Office files to a network share. I created the xml file (PID key and path have been altered). I have run setup.exe /configure configuration.xml and setup.exe /download configuration.xml The end result is a folder called Office and the size is 2.72 GB and 10 files in two folders. I do not see the setup file to run the install on our workstations. Any help would be appreciated.
<Configuration> <Add SourcePath="\\server\share\OFF2K19STD" OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="PerpetualVL2019"> <Product ID="Standar2019Volume" PIDKEY="xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx" > <Language ID="en-us" /> </Product> <Product ID="ProofingTools"> <Language ID="en-us" /> </Product> </Add> <RemoveMSI All="True" /> <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" /> </Configuration>
They're removing the MSI installation option to "encourage" their customers to adopt the subscription model instead of a perpetual licensed product like Office 2019.
Are your workstations running Windows 10?
Anyhow, after you've downloaded all the files using the /download switch. Use the same ODT tool again and run this command in PowerShell or Command Prompt to initiate the installation:
setup.exe /configure configuration.xml
Did you get Office 2019 through TechSoup?
I'm trying to figure out when it will be available here. The Microsoft Versions site on TechSoup hasn't been updated since May. https://www.techsoup.org/current-versions-of-microsoft-products
We purchased Office Standard 2019 this week. I'm having trouble getting it installed, though. My configuration file looks the same as the one above (different source path and PIDKEY, but the same otherwise). The download seems to work, but the installation (using the /configure option) doesn't appear to do anything - nothing running in the background, no errors, it just returns to the command prompt. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? It seems like a lot of effort just to load Office on a single computer. Thanks.
I haven't installed Office 2019, but this site was massively helpful the last time I installed Office through a Techsoup Donation:
I must be doing things wrong. Tried everything and cannot get it to download. Get as far as having setup create an office folder, then just an error message that it cannot install. I decided, after paying for the stand alone version, just to install it from my Office 365 subscription and stay with that. I understand what MS is trying to do with the click-to-run versions, but I do not appreciate the work involved in trying to use the deployment tool. I kind of resent paying for the versions only to have so much difficulty getting them.
Here is my xml file:
