We recently moved to Office 365 and want to create an intranet using SharePoint Online.This will be for approximately100 users and need the following features:
I know there are numerous intranet-in-a-box solutions that offer these features for SharePoint but everything I have come across is very expensive.Being a non profit our budget is extremely limited and most of these are well beyond our budget. Are there any affordable solutions available?Has anyone successfully built an intranet on SharePoint online using OOB features?
Would you consider using something that didn't use SharePoint? You could use WordPress to create an Intranet site with Pages that could provide #1 and #2.
If you were to use it to upload documents it could take care of #3 although I might suggest having an admin manage that process.
News and announcement could be done using the Posts feature. Using WP means you have no costs other than hosting the site and creating and maintaining which could be a shared task.
I have no suggestions for a Form Builder. You would have to provide more information. But the Calendar could be provided using Google Calendar. The Calendar would not be only on the Intranet, but that might be something you want to access from anywhere if users are logged in.
We are actually using WordPress currently and looking to move to SharePoint online to better integrate with Office 365 and eliminate hosting costs.
