Does anybody know if I can move MS Office bought through techsoup to a new computer?
From what I can tell there are no restriction on moving it within the same organization. Here are the Microsoft Office Rules and Requirements from Techsoup

You can reinstall the same version of Office on the new computer, as long as you uninstall it from the original computer first. Microsoft just asks that you only do this after the software has been installed on the original computer for at least 90 days. Most downloaded software TechSoup provides has a similar provision but it's good to check.

9. License Assignment and Reassignment
Before Customer uses software under a License, it must assign that License to a device or user, as appropriate. Customer may reassign a License to another device or user, but not less than 90 days since the last reassignment of that same License, unless the reassignment is due to (i) permanent hardware failure or loss, (ii) termination of the user’s employment or contract or (iii) temporary reallocation of CALs, Client Management Licenses and user or device SLs to cover a user’s absence or the unavailability of a device that is out of service. Customer must remove the software or block access from the former device or to the former user. SA coverage and any Licenses that are granted or acquired in connection with SA coverage may be reassigned only with the underlying qualifying License. Different terms apply to the reassignment of Windows desktop operating system per device licenses and SA coverage, as detailed in the Windows Product Entry.

Thank you. Yes, I installed it a couple of years ago and am moving to a new computer so it looks like I should qualify.
So it's just magic - I just uninstall it on the old one, and it just activates and works on the new one?Wow, it's amazing what computers can do now-a-days. :-)
So how about my situation? The computer of mine with the Office installation has a failed motherboard as of yesterday. Thus I cannot do an uninstall operation on that inoperable machine and all I have now is its hard drive with my documents.
What steps do I need to take to get Office on to a new machine?
I’m kind of in the same boat. My hard drive died and I had to buy a new one. There appears to be no way to uninstall the software from the old drive.
