Is anyone out there actually using SugarCRM Community Edition in their day-to-day operations?
It's been mentioned a couple of times over the last month (by Chris and drehfeldtusa). It looks pretty good, but I'd like to hear how it holds up in real-world conditions. For example, could a small non-profit (20-30 users) replace Outlook with the email client that's included in the free Community Edition? Is the interface hard to get used to, or is it pretty intuitive?
I'm using the professional edition and I find the email interface to be lacking in a lot of features. I switched to Linux on my desktop, but I've found that nothing really replaced Outlook. Sugar does have an Outlook plugin, though, that allows you to synchronize Contacts and I think you can add tasks to Outlook from Sugar. So I would look into what you can do to integrate Outlook with Sugar, instead of replacing Outlook.
I haven found anything to replace Outlook for the PC at this time, at least in what I've been depending on it for.
That being said about the email interface and not liking it, I think I'll like it more when I start using my 19" monitor on my desk again because it has a higher resolution. However, it's a little clunky. I use it to send out Quotes, but I don't think you'll be using that feature (unless you're using it to "quote" donation amounts). Anyway, its convenient but not very great.
