HI, I'm having trouble determining if we really only need ONE license for 3 servers in our small non-profit. We have Active Directory, SQL databases (2), HyperV, VM ware in our server 2012 environment. We want to let go of Carbonite because it is not working at all on one of our servers and is SUPER costly.
Will one License of Backup Exec be all we need to do disk (local) and cloud backups for all 3 servers?
I really don't want to get caught up in the convoluted Veritas price structure.

I reviewed the Veritas Backup Exec datasheet and the software compatibility information online and it does look like Veritas Backup Exec will be adequate for your environment, but I've sent a note to Veritas to confirm. Hi Whittney. I have a question about Backup Exec 20. I have a Hyper-V (only) environment. No VMWare. I have 4 maybe 5 VM's on the host Hyper-V .The host and the VM's are all server 2012. To my knowledge there are no databases to back up and there is NO exchange server.
Do you think that 1) the software will be compatible and 2) that I will only need one license of BackUp Exec 20?

1) Yes, from looking at the Veritas Software Comparability List then your environment will be covered, but be sure to read about some features that may be affected with your 2012 server.
2) Yes, only one license is required per organization. See Product Description here.
