QuickBooks Desktop Nonprofit Budget problem. Out of 90 Accts in our Activities v Budget report, 4 are doubling the Budget amount we have entered. I cannot get this to give me $100 for the year. It gives me $16.67 per mo, which is $200. I've tried entering 8.33 copied across, for $99.96 in the year, but the report still gives me $16.67 in a given month. Tried zeroing it out - that gives me the correct $0. But when I go back to 8.33 or $100/yr, it gives me $16.67. There are three other line items in the budget that are $100/yr or 8.33 per month, and QB is not doubling those. Just four are doubling. None of the other line items are doubling.
Welcome to TechSoup. That sounds mysterious and vexing. Have you contacted QuickBooks Support or asked for help from the QB online community?

Yes, I contacted QuickBooks but they want me to pay them $300 (giving me a $200 discount, isn't that nice), to look into the problem. I'm not ready to part with $300 for this problem. If Intuit isn't willing to look at it to see if it's their own glitch, but wants me to pay $300, I will work around the problem. But best scenario is to have it working correctly. Amazingly, the Budget report that gives me every month of the year shows $8.33 for every month, but the total for the full year is still $199.9x, where as $8.33 x 12 = $99.96. Big mystery still. Hoping someone has an answer that I don't have to pay hundreds of dollars for!
I tried something else. I entered $1 copied across. It gave me $9.33 per month. Then I entered $8 per month, and it gave $16.33. So I see what it is doing: it is storing the original $8.33 somewhere, and whatever I enter for the budget, it is adding it to the $8.33. So I entered all zeroes in these 4 "doubling" accounts, and now the budget is giving me $8.33 per month, or $100 for the year (rounded). Now all I have to do is figure out (or ask if someone knows) how to find the hidden $8.33/mo or $100 per year that is hidden from view when i look at the Budget.
Stranger and stranger.
