I noticed that you have Mobile Beacons available. I am in settings in large hotel meetings and need internet access for my laptop. Hotels are very expensive and so I am looking for a better way to access the internet with my laptop.
Will a Mobile Beacon work for this purpose, or is it only for cell phones? Perhaps an Ethernet Adapter would work? Can someone recommend a way to do this?
No. Calif. World Service Area of AFG, Inc.
Here's more info about these mobile hotspots. You should be able to connect any device that can use wifi to it -- as long as the hotspot itself can get a connection.
TechSoup's price looks attractive, but if this is just for your own use I would also contact your cell phone company to see what it would cost to use your own cell phone as a hotspot. It may be included in your plan. For instance, here's what Verizon offers.
Also, if you use an Android phone you can try using Foxfi to turn it into a hotspot. They have a limited, free version you can test. If it works, it's an inexpensive, one-time purchase. But it doesn't work with all Android phones, so test it first.
