I'm always on the lookout for quick online collaboration tools, and this one looks quite cool.
www.checkvist.com
From its webpage:
*************************************************************************
With Checkvist you can easily work with multiple outlines or hierarchical to-do lists. Extensive use of keyboard navigation and shortcuts allows to create an outline exactly with your typing speed.
Already have outlines in other applications? Checkvist can import and export information to several formats: plain text, html, OPML, and even Atlassian Confluence wiki format!
Online ouliners are particularly useful for brainstorming. Checkvist supports concurrent editing, adding notes to tasks, and notifications. Just share your checklist with colleagues and start working together.
Dashboard presents the whole list of your checklists. There you can see the progress, view or change sharing information, and remove unneccessary checklists.
We use Checkvist for daily work planning, software release planning, creating and sharing online bibliography, business trip to-do lists, brainstorming new projects. It's free, so why not sign up?
Hi Rog--
Thanks! This is one I passed on to some colleagues here at TechSoup. Some of us currently use BaseCamp for collaboration, but I've personally found it to be pretty limited & often clunky. I'm looking forward to giving an alternative a try.
Best,
Megan

Megan If you like the idea and design of basecamp, can pay a little bit, but want more features try CentralDesktop; I've had great success with it particularly for the document versioning, flexibitily and great emailing integration. I will try checkvist for collaboration on an outline though, that sounds quite useful. Will
Rog, thanks for letting us know about Checkvist. I started playing around with it and I like it.
I'm not usually a fan of trusting my data to any of these online services that keep your information stored on their servers -- really makes me feel uncomfortable security- and privacy-wise. But I definitely see how such web-based tools are especially great for collaboration and being able to access them from anywhere at any time.
That said, here are some features I'd really like to see added to Checkvist which I think would make it a "killer" app:
I like this online tool tho, it's so easy and intuitive to use.

I'm too am looking forward to trying this tool out, however due to its lack of secure certificate wouldn't likely use it on anything sensitive. In other words, almost any client work.
One of my favourite tools for document collaboration and versioning is Google docs. I've had up to eight people in the same document at the same time editing, and it does a better than passable job of simply making it work. For project management type functions, I'm currently using Unfuddle--though I have had some frustrations with the service as of late.

Looks like Checkvist has implemented some new features recently. For example, now there's an icon on the toolbar allowing easy printing of your lists. Another nice feature is the ability to color code the tasks in your lists.
