Hi Jayne: I am now looking into iphone moble apps. Don't know too much and am quite interested. Our organization will be participating in a huge art exhibit in April and one of the requirements is having the ability to take donations on the spot. We would, of course, like to be able to receive those donations and wondered if there is a webinar that will give me a visual view of how the transactions work. We were fortunate to have QuickBooks 2013 Nonprofit Edition and want to be sure we get the correct reader, app or tool to accomplish our goal.
So looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks a Million!
Could Connect2Give be an option for you?
Here's a good roundup of various mobile giving apps from TechSoup.
And here is a recap of a recent webinar on this very subject (with links to the webinar in archive)
And, FYI, I found these by typing in mobile fundraising into the search function on the TechSoup web site, and then clicking on "Community." Our search function is a very nifty tool!

There are several vendors that offer a device that attaches to your phone, allowing you to swipe credit cards on the spot. You could also contact the bank that your NPO does business with, and see if they offer a service that is appropirate for your needs.

This may not be timely, but my company, www.PledgeWell.com offers a text-to-donate solution that's perfect for event fundraising.
Am I missing a reason why PayPal wouldn't work here?
They integrate with nonprofits, and it's quite easy to send / receive money.
Only challenge I see here is that you might a different solution (Square?) to accept credit cards. Maybe this helps
Would love to know more about your needs and where these two solutions fit (or don't fit).
This is in response to the post about PledgeWell.
I don't see anything on the site that tells me who will own the data that you receive from our customers - their names and credit card info. that's data I don't feel comfortable giving to an unknown third party. Can you give me a URL or two that talks about ownership?
Hi Margaret,This is a post from last year so it may be a while until Isaac responds. The site lists this cotact info. Might be the better route to an answer.PledgeWell(877) email@example.com
