Your work is vital. We are raising funds to support it.
First, I want to thank all of you for your support of our efforts to bring new technology programs to the sector. In the beginning, we solely included donated equipment. But as we increasingly sought to broaden our hardware offerings, we've expanded to new models. They range from discounted hardware in our catalog from various vendors to new affiliate relationships where unique discounts are available on other companies' websites.
It's our recent launch of the Dell Affiliate program that prompts me to write to all of you today.
We had the opportunity to create a special private site where qualified nonprofits and libraries could get access to the entire Dell catalog with selected unique, ever-changing Dell discounts. We've seen a number of postings on TechSoup.org from users asking why they were asked to pay an admin fee prior to viewing detailed information on the savings in this custom catalog.
And these are solid and reasonable questions. The immediate answer is that there is currently no way to give users access to the catalog without initial validation. This validation process confirms that their organization is eligible to participate in the program. However, that validation also gives them the ability to place orders.
In order to make the program as transparent as possible, we are dedicated to, at a minimum, providing periodic updates on the top savings on the custom site by comparing the offers to retail costs on the Dell.com site. We hope this will help you better understand the benefits of the program.
Check the product page for the latest discounts.

This is the second affiliate offering on TechSoup (the first was access to discounts through JourneyEd). Your feedback on both programs continues to help us better understand how to communicate about these discounted solutions, and it will help us refine these offers and future similar offers.
Thank you for caring enough to give us your feedback and suggestions — you are making us better, and you can't imagine how much we appreciate the help.
So please keep the suggestions coming, and if you've found this offering helpful, I'd appreciate it if you would be willing to post those results, so others can learn from your experiences too.
We couldn't do it without you!

Chief Business Development Officer (leading new donation/discount program development since 2001)

For me, because the Dell product lines I was most interested in obtaining are excluded from the program, this was $10 wasted. You could have done a better job of documenting the restrictions on the program beforehand.
Sorry about that experience - can you let me know what product you were seeking? Also would love to chat with you directly - can you write me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org? Every item in the Dell site should be in the special TechSoup catalog, but the savings are restricted to unique product groups. That said, those products with special savings change on a regular basis. Hope to talk with you soon.
i just paid $10 as well. Hopefully the product I am looking for is included. Seeing tbetz comments below is alarming. I am looking for DELL1610 HD projectors
I am a new user and am looking for hard drives for Dell Latitude Laptop. My not for profit will use them to refurbish used laptops for donation to schools in Jamaica W. I. Will I be able to obtain here?
Interface: Serial ATA-600
Form Factor: 3.5" x 1/3H
Hard Drive Type: Internal hard drive
Spindle Speed: 7200 rpm
Buffer Size: 16 MB
Would appreciate a response to email@example.com
First, just to SaintAnne -yes I do see the DELL1610 HD projector on the site, but just to restate the special savings change on a quarterly basis, and there is no special savings on this projector today that is posted at $749 (and their prices can change anytime so no guarantees on what it might be at any given time).
Also wanted to repeat my request Tom to hear from you directly so I can be of help here. And for this quarter, I did want to share that the key discounts offered this quarter are
Save a total of 35% off select OptiPlex and Latitude PCs.
Save an extra 10% off select XPS Desktops and Inspiron PCs.
Save a total of 40% off select Dell Precision workstations.
Save a total of 40% off select PowerEdge Servers $1,299 and up
Save an extra 5% off select Dell Electronics & Accessories.
Hi UFOH, yes, this program does offer discounts on some hard drives, although without a product SKU, it's hard to check if the one you want is currently available (there are thousands of options on the website to choose from).
And UFOH just wanted to let you know I applied the discount off select electronics to three equivalent sized hard drives and it worked on each of those. Let me know how else I can assist. Best of luck
This, like other recent Tech Soup programs, seems to favor larger organizations.
The $10 is a flat fee. And we only need one laptop, which is discounted $25. So my net savings is $15.
I can do better than this buying a comparable laptop through normal retail channels.
I love what you do.
But please don't forget us small folks.
Good morning, Can we make the Dell discount available to our employees/volunteers.
Yes, you can -- Hooray!
I am in complete agreement with the previous comment (from tbetz). For my organization, mesa, it was also a wasted $10.00. I just spent 15 minutes on the phone with a young lady in c.s. listening to all the hidden restrictions that should have been disclosed when the program was being promoted. Somewhat disconcerting.

Hi Mesa02 - according to my contacts there are no hidden restrictions - can you write me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org? We have an escalation pathway that can help - and please know we are dedicated to making it right. But if you don't give specifics or reach out so we can assist (still have never heard from tbetz despite multiple emails) nothing gets better. Hope you reach out Norris.
Is it possible for nonprofits registered with TechSoup Canada to take advantage of this program?
Hi actioncanada - Thanks for the suggestion; we are exploring a number of international options, but nothing is final at this point. We'll let you know ASAP once any expansion of the program is confirmed.
